Deal or No Deal Island: Episode 2 Recap

The second episode for Deal or No Deal Island welcomed a Big Brother legend, c and sparks of a potential collision of friends, while closing the chapter on a very memorable second boot. We will break down all things from episode two of Deal or No Deal Island.

SPOILER WARNING!!! PLEASE WATCH ALL OF EPISODE 2 BEFORE READING!!!BLOG DOES NOT GO CHRONOLOGICAL WITH THE SHOW!!!

Parvati and Phillip

Parvati and Phillip are definitely the stars of episode two, starting when they find the mystery treasure box in the challenge. Phillip, remembering the clue given from Joe Manganiello, led the pair up to the shed when they stumbled upon it. When they reach the sign at the shed we see the first personality clash between Parvati and Phillip. Phillip is more tentative about being a target, or even changing the game completely. For Parvati, changing the game is a walk in the park. I really don’t think there’s a situation where someone shouldn’t take the case and likewise the pair take the case. For this, they are rewarded one-and-a-half million dollars and Dr. Will. Did anyone else cringe a little when Dr. Will called himself the best Big Brother player of all time? I don’t know, he is entertaining but not one of my best players and it’s just odd to tell people, “Hey, I’m the greatest of all time.”

After the challenge, Parvati and Phillip are sitting on the beach, talking about who they want to send home, and they kind of start to realize, “this person doesn’t want to play the same way I do.” This all surrounds Parvati voicing her opinion that Sydnee is better to have around instead of Rock. To this, Phillip counters that Rock hasn’t done anything to be removed from the game. At this point Sydnee approaches with Rock, C.K., and La Shell.

We will cover this situation more later, but for now all that is important is that Sydnee, essentially, forfeits the ability to play the banker for her and Rock. Saying that C.K. and La Shell should play instead. The public way this happened essentially took the power away from Parvati and Phillip so they just had to follow through with what Sydnee wanted.

I think the future of Parvati and Phillip working together in the future looks slim and instead, I am starting to love the idea of Phillip sending Parvati to face the Banker, as I think Parvati would crush against the banker and would actually get good offers.

The Hot Mess Express

Sydnee came into episode 2 on the heels of a pretty brutal first day of power. Going into the challenge she tried to partner with David, to which he completely avoids her. Leaving her with Rock, which is pretty unfortunate for Rock as well, signifying that he is also on the bottom. During the challenge Sydnee is just freaking out, losing her mind, and the cause seems to be all the thoughts in her head and just that her pair is going slow in the challenge. Regardless, she is doing absolutely nothing while Rock is sawing a whole tree down, HELP HIM!!!

As we said earlier, Sydnee and Rock were in the bottom two for the challenge meaning they were at risk of elimination. At this point right after the challenge, I think Sydnee had a chance. Parvati was going to pick Sydnee and Rock to face the dealer. Of course, this is where Sydnee approached Parvati and Phillip with the rest of the at-risk players.

At this point it is important to note, Rock wanted to face the banker. Sydnee just said she wasn’t mentally able to do that. It seems Rock knew that she would just dig her own grave no matter what, but he did voice at least once that he did in fact, want to play.

The issues for Sydnee don’t stop there. Even after the choice is out of Parvati’s hands, she approaches C.K. to keep her from eliminating Sydnee. C.K. simply says, ”she makes me feel things I don’t like about me.” That pretty much seals it for Sydnee. If C.K. and La Shell win it’s pretty obvious who they will eliminate.

As if things can’t get worse, right before La Shell and C.K. take their deal, Sydnee wants to take the floor and interrupt the game to apologize to everyone for the last night just to give one more chance at staying in the game. Even though this attempt was obviously never going to work, you can’t blame Sydnee because that offer from the Banker was pretty much saying,”please take this deal and eliminate Sydnee.”  The odds for taking the deal and winning  were insane and it was honestly kind of upsetting they got an offer like that.

After all, Sydnee is eliminated and I think her time on these two episodes will go down as maybe the worst strategic player of any competition show ever, but a really entertaining one. I think the value Sydnee added to this season goes past winning and losing the show. For two episodes, Sydnee was THE center of the show. Like them or love them, these players are the base of reality tv. Thank you, Sydnee!

The Wrap

Episode 2 was a great episode and I really enjoyed it. I wish we got more of La Shell this episode, I feel like her back was really on the line and we didn’t get any of her perspective. However, I really liked that we got less of Dave than the first episode, it made sense to really get him on screen for the US audience to get acquainted with him, then allow us to learn some more people like Phillip and of course Dr. Will.

I am excited to see Dr. Will coming up next week and from the sneak peak it seems he’s going to try to out Parvati for being on Survivor. This is so interesting to me because everyone has this weird secret with her about knowing but not telling everyone they know she’s from Survivor, it’s a really odd situation and I don’t know the reaction of the group and will come down to who has power and who is facing the Banker.

And that’s why we love Deal or No Deal island. Thank you for reading. If you like our Deal or No Deal coverage, check out or Good, Bad, Ugly rankings from episode one. If you feel so inclined, please like and share the blog with a friend.
