The Traitors Episode 4: All about the Traitors

Episode 4 of The Traitors was a chaotic episode that brought new strategy, new alliances, and new  backstabs. Today Watchers Delight will cover episode four from the eyes of the traitors. Going over why decisions were made and what lead to a dreaded backstab. We also will look into what could be in our traitor’s future.

SPOILER WARNING!!! PLEASE WATCH ALL OF EPISODE 4 OF THE TRAITORS BEFORE READING!!! BLOG DOES NOT GO CHRONOLOGICALLY WITH THE EPISODES!!!

Boston Rob vs Bob the Drag Queen

The storyline for the traitors actually starts in episode 2, when after the round table, Boston Rob says he had to stick his neck out to save Bob the Drag Queen, and go against his allies, to keep him around another day. This is important to remember because, after the episode 4 challenge, Bob decides to publicly say that there is belief one of the three new players is a traitor. It was at this point we get Boston Rob’s confessional where he decides to go after Bob the Drag Queen. Its pretty telling that Rob feels betrayed by Bob just tossing around that Rob could be a traitor, and it is betrayal. Bob the Drag Queen is already known, in the game, for doing whatever it takes to not be found as a traitor, as said by Robyn when she was talking to Dylan about the possibility of taking a shot. That's from someone who doesn’t even know if Bob is a traitor or not. Just imagine what Boston Rob thinks Bob would do to win. From Rob’s perspective, it’s a race to get each other, best to be first.

Going into the roundtable Boston Rob has shared with Danielle and Carolyn that they may have to vote Bod out. What he didn’t tell them was that he was going to be the driving force behind the vote. Danielle and Carolyn will be upset they had no say in this and they didn’t want to cut anyone so soon, but Rob had no choice. Danielle has said in confessionals she would do anything possible to not vote for Bob. Carolyn voiced that this was way too soon. I am interested in the fallout to come from this roundtable in episode 5, as Danielle really doesn’t have a choice but to protect the other two traitors this early.

The Bookcase Room

I'm going to say it, I don’t like this twist. I would understand if the traitors are just gunning down the faithful, day by day, but for a task like this where they have to do something that could be public just makes no sense to me. Luckily for the group, leaving the door open was the best case-scenario. Allowing trustworthy players like Dylan to walk in with Danielle and save her from Gabby’s wandering ears. Fortunately, it seems the bookcase dilemma will be left at breakfast as Danielle played very cool, but I doubt Gabby forgets this.

What if they were caught? What if Gabby opened the bookcase door and said, I think I just won the game? What would the rest of the season look like? My guess would be a lot of recruitment letters from the traitors, maybe even to Gabby to try and steer the ship back, but who knows. It seems like a production forced risk, that I would rather have been a back-up plan if the Traitors have it too easy.

Carolyn Wiger

Carolyn deserves her own time in my blog because she isn’t getting any from her fellow traitors. It is really upsetting that after every murder, we see more and more that Carolyn doesn’t have much of a say. For Carolyn, Jeremy’s murder is probably one of the worst options, and I think Jeremy may have been onto her based on his reaction to being murdered. He seemed like he knew he was backstabbed, saying he thought he made the connections, but his connection had no say.As far as entertainment value I think Carolyn's confessionals are best in class. The audience can really feel her struggle trying to get a footing in this game, which you wouldn’t normally expect a traitor to be.

The strength of Carolyn’s game comes from the fact that Rob and Danielle are going to collide at some point. She is pretty much guaranteed to be in the middle of those two eventually and then she will be able to use all of her power in the game. Until that, she should look to the Nikki, Gabby, Sierra group or the Derrick, Dylan, Robyn group.

Wes Bergmann

While Wes is not a traitor, he must be included in this. After the roundtable, Dylan was aweing over Boston Rob’s confidence and how he got Bob the Drag Queen out. In response Wes says that Rob knew almost too much, insinuating the only way to know 100%, is if he is a traitor himself. This pretty much will set up the plot for the next episode, but I think it will be a little different than Wes thinks it will go. Wes and Boston Rob have a very unique standing in this game. Both are players added late and with the faithful’s belief that there is a traitor from that group of three, odds are it's one of them. What I think will come of this is either, Wes sits on that information and waits until later in the game, or we get Wes vs Boston Rob in a classic “he said, she said.” If the latter happens, I think Rob has enough good will to last one more vote, sending Wes home.

Looking Ahead

The main question that the future episodes will answer is, did Boston Rob make a bad move? I think he did, considering in The Traitors, less is usually more. The strategy of going to Bob before Bob could get to him makes sense, just the way he went about it was not great. I don’t think the roundtable itself will have lasting impacts past the next episode, as Rob’s new big problem will be Danielle.

As for Danielle, her closeness with Bob the Drag Queen will need some explaining, I’m sure, but should be easily put aside due to the 1st challenge where Danielle and Bob had a chance to connect. Danielle is good sometimes and bad other times. She’s great at lying to someone's face but her strategy is what is lacking. When her time comes to go against Boston Rob, it will be interesting what she leans on to get past him.
